Snorkeling in Hawaii offers an experience not available in the Western United States or Canada. The water here is warm, clear, and there is abundant life of all kinds: fish, coral reefs, & dolphins.. Our snorkel tours offer an esthetic and ecological way to enjoy all nature has to offer. Guides offer local color and history on the trip. Our typical guest ranges in age between 2 and 82 & for about half of them it is their first trip to the Monument.

Brightly colored and unique tropical fish will delight you and the warm water is almost bathwater at 80 degrees F. Occasionally an endangered green sea turtle or spinner dolphin is seen along our route and we will enjoy them from a safe distance. The conditions are typically better in the morning with more sun and less wind.

The Kealakekua Bay & Captain Cook Monument Snorkel Tour includes:

  • Snorkel Gear including prescription masks, & wetsuits if requested in advance.
Equipment:You’ll appreciate our quality mask, snorkel & fins. Water proof bags and booties are also available at no charge, if requested in advance
  • Sightings of Marine Life; Hawaiian spinner dolphins are seen on over 1/2 our tours & humpback whales are seen in the winter.
Green sea turtles are always a treat to watch and are frequent visitors to the area
  • Remarkable snorkeling at Capt. Cook Monument! Brightly colored tropical fish & coral gardens are the feature most commonly enjoyed here.

We do not touch or engage the Dolphins in the water at Kealakekua Bay and ensure that we do not disturb their fragile ecosystem.  Our Dolphin and Snorkel Trip goes to other areas on the Kona coast where it is permitted to swim with the dolphins.  Go back to the home page to find our dolphin swim trip.
